Re: missing "org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 0.0.0" while installing sdk for eclipse 3.7

With a projected smartphone app market to surpass over US$10B in 2013, I have decided to experiment Android development platform on Eclipse IDE environment as recommended by the Android SDK site. I have followed Android SDK installation procedures as best as I can, but stuck at the missing "org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 0.0.0" error. I did Google search, but the answer wasn't readily available... so, here is my post in solving above error.

Free GPS Navigation for Android - Google Maps

Looking for a FREE GPS navigation "smartphone app" for Android and iPhone? Google introduced a free, turn-by-turn GPS navigation application for the new Android 2.0 smart phone platform. I've personally had an opportunity to experiment Google Maps GPS navigation on a couple of occasions and found it to be very useful. Compared to commercial brands such as Garmin, Magellan and Tom Tom, Android Google Maps smartphone app matches feature-by-feature, turn-by-turn voice guide, and real-time traffic update. This is one of the must-have smartphone available for Android 2.0 and above.

CSS Specificity - Which CSS Rule to apply?

What is Specificity?

Each CSS selector has a specificity value, and more specific selector has the higher precedence it has. If multiple selectors apply to a single element, the highest specificity CSS rule apply to the element. Have you had an experience where you define a CSS rule for an element, and it doesn't work? You probably have a CSS rule that has a higher specificity value which causes your newly created CSS rule to not apply.

Which CSS rule applies to an element?

How to exclude certain folders from Eclipse Search.

One of the time-saving setting you can add to your eclipse preferences is to limit your file searches to your source code, and exclude 3rd-party folders. Such folders may include .git, .svn, cache or templates_c folder from smarty. There are a few different ways to accomplish this.

1. On the Eclipse File Explorer, right click on the folder that you want to exclude and choose "Properties". On the "Resource" screen, mark a folder Derived. Derived folder is excluded from search by default.

Getting Started with GIT and GITHUB

I have been involved in software development for over 20 years, and have used various version control software including SCCS, CVS, Perforce, Clearcase, Visual Sourcesafe, and SVN. Over time, SCM trend has changed from file locking mechanism to distributed version control and GIT is gaining popularity with growing users. As a software engineer, SCM is critical part of your daily chores but you don't want to spend much time maintaining it.

ZF2: Configure a layout for each module with EdpModuleLayouts

I have newly acquainted with ZF2, and played with EdpModuleLayouts to configure different layout for each module. For someone with very limited exposure with ZF2, the instruction provided in EdpModuleLayouts is not quite enough. I've spent about an hour to make this simple thing work, and sharing my experience with others who may run into similar challenge.

Here is what you'll have to do to make EdpModuleLayouts work:

1. Install EdpModuleLayouts module in the "vendor" folder.

ZF2: ZF1 like URL Routing

ZF2 introduces a new routing for the framework which is similar to ZF1, but has slightly different semantics. The skeleton application ships with a default Application level router which takes matching controller/action to /application/controller/action URI. If you wish to keep it backward compatible with ZF1 type of matching, you may want to make the following changes to the module/Application/config/module.config.php file as below:

Netsuite invoke Saved Search in PHP - Example

I've created a fair amount of PHP code to create custom searches on Netsuite Platform. With introduction of 2012.2 endpoint late last year, my examples have to be rewritten using the 2012.2 PHP Tool Kit API.

Here are a few examples written with v2011.2 API.

How to change primary key values

To change values of existing integer field (`table` is the table name, and "id" is the column name), you may use the following update SQL command:

update `table` set id=id+10000;

Let's say that you have an ecommerce website, and you want your order number to begin 10001. But, you already have a handful of orders already so you'll just update the existing values.

If you're updating your primary key values, MySQL will automatically adjust auto_increment value to begin after the largest number stored in the database.

How to get Client IP address in PHP?

There are a number of array name/value pairs provided in the PHP's "predefined" $_SERVER variable, which you can use to extract client's IP address. Some of the IP related $_SERVER parameters retrieved from the web server are passed by the client in the form of HTTP header, so they can be easily spoofed.
